While our summer has been far from inspiring this year, what is getting the Petplan team excited is the number of fabulous events to look forward to.

Pet lovers have a slew of great shows and days out to attend over the coming months. Check out these dates for your diary - some of which let your pets come too!

The Rabbit Welfare Association Conference (for owners)
6 July
Wood Green Godmanchester Centre, Cambridgeshire
Bunny owners can join a day-long conference to hear rabbit experts such as Dr Anne McBride offer advice on health and other ownership matters.

Leeds Championship Dog Show
26-28 July
Harewood House, nr Leeds
Including the Petplan Junior Stakes competition for dogs and bitches aged 6-18 months, this three-day event at Harewood Estate near Leeds is one of the country's biggest dog shows.

Battersea Dogs and Cats Home Annual Reunion
8 September
Battersea Park London
The famous dog and cat home invites friends old and new to get together for a great day out to support the charity. With a fun dog show that includes categories such as 'Prettiest Lady', 'Dog that looks most like owner/celeb' and 'Fancy Dress', it's all about celebrating Battersea's wonderful four-legged friends.

Paws in the Park
21-22 September
The Kent Showground, Detling, Kent
The UK's largest outside dog show offers a range of sports to try or view such as K9 frisbee, dog athletics and terrier racing. Also to enjoy are displays by professional dog handlers, dogs from TV and film, plus stalls selling all kinds of dog paraphernalia. And dogs are invited too!

The kitty equivalent of Crufts.
